Webconferencing
I attended the first webconference that was offered and it was a bit overwhelming. There were at least 90 people logged in and it was very difficult to read what was being said. I have attended a few of them throughout all of the courses and they are a bit scattered and chatty for me. I am glad to see where everyone is from and such, but I really did not get too much information about the course from the conference. I think that they are a great idea! I think that they are going to serve a great purpose! I just think that there has to be a limited amount of socialization on them.

Evaluation Planning for Action Plan
In implementing the action plan the following steps will be followed:
1. Committee formed to look at district and campus data (STaR Chart) and needs.
2. Superintendents will meet with Committee, then meet with Principals to see the needs of their campus.
3. Principals will meet with Department Chairs and look at the needs of each department.
4. Department Chairs will meet with Teachers to see what technology they are using or are interested in. The Long Range Plan will be looked at and the importance will be stressed.
5. Department Chairs will then report to principals of needs and level of teachers abilities.
6. Principals will then report to Superintendent, Curriculum Coordinator, Technology Coordinator of the needs of the campuses.
7. The professional development will be broken down into department needs, ex. math, science, etc. and then will be looked at along grade levels. It will be differentiated amongst curriculums, grade levels, and teacher knowledge. Teachers will be taught by using the technology. They will use the MOBI's and be using the various programs so that they will be familiar with them. They will have update trainings periodically so that they can get questions answered and see new options.
To evaluate the success, reports will be looked at from the administrators and the technology coordinator. The STaR chart will be looked at as well as teachers will be continually monitored to see how they are using technology in their classrooms. All stakeholders will be provided with reports of the uses and the progress of use. The TEKS and standards for technology will be looked at and made sure that they are being followed and guidelines will be set. Principals will be responsible to walk through and visit with teachers and students to see how the use of technology is progressing and evaluate the needs as they appear.

Professional Development Planning
To be able to be a fully functional technological school, there has to be an understanding of what the goal is. The entire district needs to know where they are going and why they are trying to get there. The importance needs to be apparent. This goal has to be known from the superintendent all the way to the students. The scary fact is that the students are the ones that are the experienced participants in this entire endeavor. So this leaves us in a plan, such as the Long Range Plan, that not only includes where the students need to be, but also where the teachers need to be. What the classroom needs to look like and all of the steakholders involved. Up to this point, professional development consisted of all teachers, k-12, all in one room, listening to a presenter and trying to figure out how to tie it into their curriculum and grade level. Teachers completed the StaR Chart and really never paid attention to how they were answering questions and how it would impact their school. Now we are realizing that although we were trying to say that we were using all of this technology in our classroom, the majority are still lost. The current state of the district needs to not only be known, but administrators need to allow teachers to know why. The TEKS for technology need to be known by each educator. They also need to be known by the students.
The professional develoment needs to be made specific for teachers in their specific areas. Teachers need to be able to immediately be trained and not just given a list of sites that they can go. It needs to be hands on and teachers need to know what is readily available to them. The data that is driving the decisions for improvement needs to be made known to each stakeholder. I also think that it is important for us to listen to our students. They are so much more literate then we are and we can learn a lot from them. It is important to follow up with teachers. They need to be contacted and have a technical support liason that they can contact when things go wrong. It is also important to have someone that is familiar with the make up of your staff when training.

Action Plan for Procedures
Superintendent: This person will be responsible for forming a committe to help with the development of a Technology Committee. He will be responsible for helping find resources at the state and local level and ensuring that all expectations are being met. This person will serve as a liason between the Technology Committe and the School Board.
School Board: The Board will only be involved in approving the forming of the Technology Committee. They will help with district support and financial resources in the budget.
Technology Committee: This committee will be formed with the support of the
Superintendent and the School Board. This committee will include various stakeholders to review and evaluate current policies for technology use and make recommendations for potential changes to policies and improvements in schools. They will cultivate a plan to present to the School Board, Principals, and Superintendent of Schools, Superintendent of Technology and Superintendent of Instruction.
Superintendent of Technology: This person will be repsonsible to work with the Technology Committee in providing data and information to help schools move toward the Long Range Plan for Technology. They will be responsible in looking for useful technology and will be involved in the development of professional development for teachers. They will be the person that will make sure that all technology and programs are legal and safe. They will be working directly with principals, curriculum and teachers to discuss the needs of each campus. They will be the one that will look at data from such places as the STaR chart and DMAC.
Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum: This person will be responsible for tying it all together. They will work directly with the Superintendent of Technology and Principals to discuss the needs of each campus. They will also look at the curriculum of each campus and see where and when each campus can integrate more into their plan. They will also work with teachers to help them corporate technology into their classroom.
Principal: This person will be one of the most important people in the whole process. The Principal will not only have to model the use of the technology, but will also have to show buy-in and importance of the whole plan. The Principal will have to work with each of these positions to show how the school is doing, show what their campus needs are and how they are planning to move toward the goals at a district, state and national level. The Principal will have to be learned and be up to date with the technology.
Teachers: Teachers will not only have to be informed of the plan, but will also need to know the reason behind the plan. They need to know where the school and our students are moving towards. They will have to be flexible and open to technology. Teachers will have to be willing to learn a brand new trade and skill working with technology and need to realize what is best for our students. Teachers will be able to use programs such as TenMarks.com, Brainchild, Rosetta Stone, Mathtutor, YouTube, Greenglobs, and various others to help students explore and reach their potential

Technology Draft
In looking at the draft I agree that all students should recieve the same privaleges and that it would be nice to increase not only graduation rate, but also to increase the rate of students going to college. For me, I find this a hard to grasp, but with they use of technology and allowing all students to have access to them, this may allow for improvement. I believe that this will also be a difficult situation to provide technology for all students in such a time for cutbacks and how this will be possible for all students to have this accessiblity outside of the school atmosphere, especially since they want a 24/7 access for all learners. I really like that fact that it says all learners, because I believe that educators are involved in this category also. This plan will allow all stakeholders to have access to the technology and availability. Students will be able to access the world, parents will be able to be more informative on their childs education, teachers will be able to stay in contact and correspond with them and administration and the community will be able to keep up with their school community. This plan is designed to differentiate instruction to each childs needs and no longer will students be working all at the same pace. They will be able to work in a world that they can interact on their own level and will no longer be held back. I think that the biggest roadblock that schools will find is funding. I also believe that it will be difficult to train teachers adequately.

2010 Progress Report
I really did not realize that they plan has been coming down the pike for so long. It seems as though I have only been hearing of it within the last 4 or 5 years. In my classroom now and in my building, I was excited to see that I was getting 4 computer stations and impressed to have a computer lab that I can bring to my room or that I can go use. I didn't realize it was all part of a process beginning to take place.
For this purpose, the state has created Technology Applications which defines the technology literacy and integration requirements for students and teachers according to NCLB. This is its own type of curriculum, just as we have specific TEKS in each area for each subject. In this it states that a teacher must have time to teach and for students to learn technology and this is why teachers must know it first. They cannot spend the entire time trying to figure it out. This is the reason for teachers to need the proper training and knowing how to implement the technology into their classrooms and for their specific subject.
I really didn't understand that they STaR Chart was collecting data to see where we are in this process and that my district and campus was being graded on this. In the report it says that most of the Technology TEKS are met K-8, and this was very interesting to me, but yet explains why my students can always show me how to do something on the computer. This also shows me why my own children are not afraid to use the computer or can figure something out on my phone, quicker then I can. In looking at the report it was good to see that the percentage of teachers have moved up from developing tech to advanced tech and that there was a minimal number in early tech. Although there were still more in early tech then there are in the target tech.
There has been improvements and this is being brought into our graduation requirements and classes that are being offered. In looking at the report it was reassuring to see that the desire of the whole program is to improve every students needs. It was interesting to see the many programs and grants that are being implemented.
